If you’ve been keeping up with PS5 and Xbox Series X | S news, you know consoles are always extremely difficult to find in stock. While retailers sell a handful of consoles online per week, they are even rarer in physical stores. According to a new report, however, Best Buy may be preparing to sell the PS5 and Xbox Series X in some of its stores this week.

According to TechRadar reports, Best Buy will have the Xbox Series X and the disc drive version of the PS5 in stock on Thursday, September 24, which will be the first time in over a month. If the retailer allows customers to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X in person (instead of ordering it online before picking it up), that would be one of the first cases of a major chain selling them in-store since Last year.

TechRadar’s story suggests that Best Buy still hasn’t indicated whether it will allow people to buy them in stores. Previously, the retailer required customers to buy them online and wait a few days before picking them up in person; however, recent stocking of Best Buy inventory may be in preparation for in-store purchases. Regardless, the report says Best Buy plans to release the consoles on Thursday, September 24. This means you may have to be prepared to line up on Thursday morning to try and get your hands on one.

The current generation of consoles have faced a difficult combination of low inventory and high demand, largely due to global shortages of microchips and persistent logistical challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Retailers tend to put units up for sale on a seemingly random basis, and robots and scalpers have further increased the low stock.
