PS5 development kit design patent confirmed by Codemasters

On August 20, the LetsGoDigital website released the news of a design patent discovered by Sony Interactive Entertainment for an unknown device. The device was designed by Yusuhiro Ootori, a company engineer, and speculation around the Internet revolved around the PlayStation 5 development kit.

Today, Matthew Stott, senior Codemasters artist, has confirmed tweet the device is actually a PlayStation 5 development kit.

"It's a development kit, we have it in the office," says Stott in his tweet, referring to a Metro report on the patent.

It should be noted that development kits generally look different from the material sold to consumers. For example, here is the PlayStation 4 development kit:

Although many details surrounding the upcoming PlayStation are largely mysterious, we already know some things and it will not be available until April 2020.
