PS5 PlayStation 5 download speeds 1

We have an unremarkable internet connection, but there’s no denying that the PlayStation 5 downloads games faster than our PlayStation 4 could ever handle. We were often surprised at how quickly the titles were downloaded to our next-gen system, so we decided to put it to the test. We use a very basic connection and our two consoles are connected wirelessly.

We set up Planet Coaster: Console Edition, which is 18.96 GB in size, for download on our PS5 and was able to play in about 21 minutes. The same test on our PS4 Pro: about 44 minutes. Now it should be noted that our connection speed tends to fluctuate during peak hours and your mileage will also vary depending on your ISP, but there is no doubt that the next gen system downloads data faster. .

In fact, we scanned other reviews to try to find out if it was just us, and US Gamer noted that on his super-fast Verizon FIOS internet he was able to shoot Fist of the North Star. : Lost Paradise in 7 minutes on the PS5 compared to 58 minutes on the PS4 Pro. None of this is scientific and empirical evidence – but the signs are that Sony’s new console is faster.

It’s not a huge surprise, we suppose – it contains the latest Wi-Fi receiver, and data should write to the SSD faster than the stock hard drive in the various PS4 models. This is something that has constantly surprised us, however, as we’ve gotten used to the slower speeds of Sony’s previous console.
