PS5 DualSense Controller Drift: U.S. Law Firm Investigates Class Action

[ad_1]

A US law firm that has previously filed a class action lawsuit against Nintendo for the Joy-Con drift is now “investigating” a similar case against Sony, alleging a drift of the analog stick in the PS5 DualSense controller. Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP has set up a questionnaire page, asking PS5 owners to report instances of drift (in which the console records stick input, even though the controller is not touched) .

“CSK & D is investigating a potential class action lawsuit based on reports that the Sony PS5 DualSense controllers for the PlayStation 5 console may experience drift issues and / or fail prematurely,” read the page’s introduction. “Specifically, it is reported that the joystick on some PS5 DualSense controllers will automatically record movement when the joystick is not being controlled and interferes with gameplay.”Reports have started to emerge of the alleged drift of the PS5 DualSense controllers in recent days, although the extent of the problem is unclear at this point. The CSK & D questionnaire is probably an effort to find out, before embarking on formal legal proceedings.

CSK & D is in the midst of a class action lawsuit against Nintendo, which was forced into arbitration after a judge refused to dismiss the case – a case that began with a similar user survey. This is one of the many cases and investigations around the world of Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controller drift.

Recent patents suggest that Sony may be looking to upgrade the DualSense, although these models don’t mention any changes to the analog stick design. We gave the DualSense a 9/10 rating, saying “Sony has both made a more comfortable gamepad for traditional gaming and introduced some very cool features.”
