The PS5 has a lot of flashy features like 3D audio and adaptive triggers, but one of its most useful new additions may have just been accidentally revealed.
PushSquare spotted a feature called Game Presets in a Recommended Settings video posted by the PlayStation Support YouTube channel. The menu is not covered in the video, but if you pause the video around 2:27, you can see what options can be preset.
In recent years, games have made options like subtitles available before the game starts, much like the long-standing difficulty selection screens, to allow players to customize things even before they start playing. the first cutscene. Now you do all of this once at the system level, with video from PlayStation showing you exactly how it’s done.
Other adjustable options include different presets for first- and third-person gaming, both of which presumably offer the choice of camera controls for these two styles of play. You can also switch between performance and resolution modes for graphics, depending on whether you generally prefer higher frame rates or prettier visuals.
It’s certainly a thoughtful addition from Sony. Now we have to hope that the developers organize their option menus so that they are compatible, otherwise this good idea will be wasted. It’s also something we haven’t seen from the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S yet, which gives the PS5 an edge over its third-party gaming rival.
Another improved game on PS5
Many existing games have announced their switch to the next generation of consoles with redesigned graphics and other improvements. And the latest to announce its changes for PS5 (and Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S as well) is Warframe.
This multiplayer title featuring space ninjas running around the wall in just plain cool outfits has been popular for several years, and developer Digital Extremes announced it through the Warframe website. 4K / 60fps support for both consoles and much faster load times.
However, this is only the first step, as on the road DE has planned a texture overhaul and dynamic lighting redesign that will not only make the game better but also reduce the size of the game on the SSD. of a console. An important factor given that the PS5 and Xbox Series S have had concerns about their smaller SSD sizes.
PS5 users will also see some unique additions, like support for the DualSense controller adaptive triggers (with more haptic feedback features to come later) and for the Activities menu, allowing players to quickly start specific challenges in. the game from the main menu. DE said he will share more information on the Xbox Series X version “very soon”, so we’ll see if Microsoft’s console gets any unique features.
The PS5 will go on sale from November 19, but is currently available for pre-order – if you can find somewhere that isn’t sold out already.
