The PlayStation Direct queue is now closed. Sony’s official store started the queue at 3:30 p.m. PT / 6:30 p.m. ET and ran out of stock at 3:58 p.m. PT / 6:58 p.m. ET. Sony left a message for users who were still waiting in line, saying, “We are continually working to make more PS5 consoles available in the future,” but he did not give a timeline or any other information. PlayStation Direct notes that it still has PS5 accessories and games, but since these weren’t as hard to find as the console, it’s best to quit the queue and wait for your next opportunity to acquire. a PS5.
In a recent earnings report, Sony confirmed that it sold 4.5 million PS5 consoles from October through December. The company acknowledged current PS5 shortages but vowed to “do everything in its power” to make more PS5s available to consumers, adding that it is on track to sell 7.6 million PS5 units. during the first fiscal year. However, the situation for PS5 stocks is unlikely to improve until this summer at the earliest. Microsoft recently admitted that stock for the Xbox Series X will be limited until at least June, so we expect the same to be true for the PS5.
Despite these facts, you’re not completely out of luck on the PS5 front. While it will still be difficult to buy the PS5 in the coming months, retailers still offer sporadic online replenishments and PlayStation Direct also opens its queue for the PS5 occasionally. Usually no notice is given, so PS5 gaming is all about keeping an eye on Twitter (and, of course, stories like this) for the latest restockings. There are plenty of accounts that tweet as soon as the PS5 is spotted in stock. We have recently seen several replenishments from major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop, including the biggest replenishment we’ve seen since Black Friday in late January. Last week, Walmart offered both the PS5 and PS5 Digital in a series of back-to-back restockings, though each sold out in a flash. And this week, GameStop restocked the PS5 bundles, which also sold out quickly. Typically, you’ll have better luck with replenishments that aren’t announced ahead of time, but of course these are harder to track as well.
We continue to update this guide as PS5 units go on sale – just be aware that if you want one you’ll need to be quick and potentially open to buying a bundle with games and accessories you want or not. . If you want to buy a PS5 fairly quickly, these are the kinds of concessions you need to make. Third-party sellers like StockX are also options, although we recommend that you wait to buy the PS5 at MSRP (not hundreds above the list price).
Where to buy the PS5
PS5 availability on PlayStation Direct
PlayStation Direct regularly opens a queue for buyers to buy the PS5 (and everything else on the proprietary site), but you often have to wait over an hour and not know if the PS5 is even available. Still, it’s worth checking out PS Direct often, as it’s the only store that still releases the PS5 on a fairly regular basis. However, the queues also seem to be somewhat hit and miss.
Note that finding a queue on PS Direct doesn’t necessarily mean the PS5 is in stock; it just indicates high traffic to the store. It never hurts to jump in and wait if you find the queue and will be in front of your computer for a while, but be aware that there is no guarantee that it will be in stock at the moment. moment when you will pass.
PS5 availability on GameStop
GameStop restocked the PS5 on February 9; however, the PS5 and PS5 digital editions are only available in expensive bundles. This has been a relatively common occurrence at GameStop.
PS5 availability at Walmart
Walmart had the PS5, along with other next-gen systems, on its website on February 4. Like other Walmart restockings, more systems became available every 10 minutes, giving customers plenty of chances to get one, but they sold out ridiculously fast. The restocking was announced about an hour in advance, giving hopeful buyers (and resellers) time to prepare.
PS5 availability at Best Buy
Best Buy’s last PS5 restock was on January 22 – this was the second day in a row that Best Buy restocked the PS5 on its website, but it has been silent since. Best Buy did not have stock on store shelves throughout the holiday season, but the retailer has said the consoles will be available in stores in 2021. We suggest you check with your local Best Buy store in case availability.
PS5 availability at Target
Target’s most recent replenishment was on February 2. Both the PS5 and PS5 Digital were available, but only for in-store pickup. We always suggest that you call your local stores for availability. This is just the second PS5 restock that we’ve seen at Target since launch.
PS5 availability on Amazon
Amazon is the least reliable retailer when it comes to PS5 restockings – we’ve barely seen the next-gen console in stock since its launch. The most recent Amazon PS5 restock was on January 21. We only saw the $ 500 disc player version in stock, and it was gone in a flash.
Where to buy PS5 accessories
The Pulse 3D wireless headset was the most difficult PS5 accessory to find in stock, and it was the first accessory to sell at major retailers. Replenishments have popped up periodically in recent weeks, although this is still not an item that you can reliably buy all the time. However, there are still a number of great headsets you can buy to go with your new PS5. Our personal favorite is the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro Wireless Headphones; Other great options include the SteelSeries Arctis 1 and the Astro A50. All of your existing PS4 headsets should also work.
Other official PS5 accessories like the Multimedia Remote and DualSense Charging Station are also popular and run out of stock with occasional replenishments.

Where to buy the greatest PS5 games
There are plenty of PS5 games out now, including launch titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls. Keep in mind that many PS4 games come with free next-gen upgrades that have been reduced since launch, making it a better deal than buying the PS5 versions outright.
