PS5 suffering from download queue bug

[ad_1]

The PS5 suffers from a bug that causes games and apps to get caught in a “Queued for download” or error state, with the only current fix apparently being a factory reset of the console. . IGN staff, among the many reports that appear, appear to occur when a product is first set up for download. The bug can then apparently take two forms, either listing the game / app as pending download or as having experienced a download error. Both will prompt you to check the Downloads menu, which then shows nothing.

The result is that your game is stuck in limbo – it won’t get downloaded, and it can’t be canceled or downloaded again. Either way, among IGN staff, the PS5 library will show that you own the game / app, but checking the PS5 Store will tell you that you don’t, asking you to buy it.A lot of reports have focused on the bug hitting the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (the PS4 version appearing to download normally). Two IGN staff, including myself, suffered from the problem with this game. Another IGN staff member encountered the problem while trying to download Godfall, and we have seen reports on the bug affecting Demon’s Souls, Spider-Man: Remastered, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and the Disney + app. So far, the bug has apparently only affected games or apps with a specific PS5 version.

Activision recommends a factory reset for those who come in contact with the issue regarding Call of Duty, and that fixed the issue for an IGN staff member. Other users have reported that a factory reset also fixed the issue. Many will be loath to erase their console and re-download their games, but no other workaround has been found as of this writing.

Sony has yet to comment on the issue – we’ve reached out to the company for comment.
