The PS5 has proven to be incredibly difficult to buy, with most stocks selling instantly. But you might have another chance before the end of the month, as Target is reportedly planning a series of further PS5 stock drops across the United States.
The Spiel Times reports that new Target replenishments could appear at any time on January 19, 20, 21 or 22. It sounds vague, but Spiel Times correctly broke the news of a previous Target PS5 restock on December 29; he gave that as one of the many possible restock dates for the PS5. So while it’s a rumor at the moment, it’s worth listening to.
This new report explains that once again, PS5 units will be shipped to individual Target stores. You will still be able to buy them online if you are quick enough.
But the precise amount of stock on hand will vary depending on how many Target branches are in your area, whether they have received PS5 stock, and, if they have, by how much.
This is another caveat: one of the Spiel Times sources claims that each store only receives between 4 and 12 units, while another says it could be anywhere between a single PS5 and ” more than 20 ”. Combine this low availability with not knowing when exactly stock will be available to order, and it’s almost certainly necessary to check back regularly to increase your chances of actually securing a PS5. And be lucky enough to live in an area with a larger number of consoles allocated.
Unfortunately, that’s the current reality of where to buy the PS5: a lot of digging and fingers crossed. Nevertheless, it hopefully shows that new opportunities always present themselves.
Indeed, Sony itself has made a habit of announcing restockings of PS5s, although console shortages are expected to last for at least a few months.
