PSO says they won’t need to trigger more power outages on Monday and they are calling on customers to do what they can to cut back on their energy.

According to PSO’s Stan Whiteford, The Southwest Power Pool told them they didn’t need to cut power to another group just yet.

PSO said with extremely cold weather continuing throughout the week, the energy supply could tighten. They said they will do everything possible to provide advance notice if a power outage is required.

PSO Oklahoma and OG&E had started triggering power outages around 1:45 a.m. Monday after the Southwest Power Pool issued a Level 3 energy emergency alert, which is the highest level of alert. According to the Southwest Power Pool website, it “manages the power grid in 17 states in the central and western United States and provides energy services on a contract basis to customers,” which includes Oklahoma.

SPP has since restored the alert to Level 2.
