The original PUBG – aka PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds – is credited with starting the trend for Battle Royale video games. Tencent eventually ported PUBG to mobile devices with the appropriate title PUBG: Mobile. Now there is a new game called PUBG: New State.

It’s a totally different game than we’ve seen before in the PUBG universe. It takes place at a different time, has some unique features, and is the first PUBG mobile title created by the original development company.

What is PUBG: New State?
PUBG: New State is a mobile-only game set in the PUBG universe. When it launches, it will be available exclusively on Android and iOS devices.

The original PUBG is located in the present (or something close). New State, however, is set in the not too distant future of 2051. As such, it will likely bring new characters and stories to the PUBG universe.
However, this is still a PUBG title and will play a lot like the previous games. You will be dropped onto a map and have to fight your way to victory against dozens of other players.
When and where will the game launch?
PUBG Studio would not commit to a specific date for the release of this new game. However, the company has said it is planning a 2021 launch. Clearly, the COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll on the dates. media launch, so there may be delays until 2022. For now, however, the studio is sticking to a 2021 launch for PUBG: New State.
When it launches, the game will be available worldwide for Android and iOS devices. Sadly, it won’t land in China, India or Vietnam. This is most likely due to the issues that PUBG titles have encountered in these countries in the past.

What are the unique features of this game?
The most notable feature of this new game is not the game itself but the company that created it. PUBG Studios creates PUBG: New State, which is the same company that created the original PUBG.
The only other PUBG mobile title is PUBG: Mobile, created by Chinese gaming giant Tencent. This makes New State the only mobile game from the original development company.
In the future, the new PUBG game features a new map, new weapons, and new ways to interact with the environment.
Outside of development, New State will have features that other PUBG titles don’t have. For example, there will be a weapon customization system that will allow players to change the appearance of their weapons during a match. It looks like the Apex Legends system. There will also be new weapons available that reflect the futuristic setting, including drones and deployable combat shields.
There will also be a brand new map for the game. When you fall you will land in a place called Troi. PUBG Studios promises new landmarks and interactive environments, which should allow you to find unique ways to deactivate your opponents.
Finally, PUBG: New State will be specially designed for mobile gaming. The developers promise “next-generation graphics that surpass
the standard for mobile games. Players can also expect the same control experience that is “easy to learn, but hard to master.”
Will PUBG: New State land on PC or other platforms?
Right now, PUBG: New State is designed specifically for mobile. As such, you should only expect it to land on Android and iOS devices.

However, it wouldn’t be out of the question to think that a PC or console port might occur in the future. Cross-platform play is one of the big draws of competing Fortnite game. It is not unreasonable to assume that PUBG Studios would want to offer something comparable with their titles. Of course, it’s entirely possible that isn’t the strategy here and this game will remain a mobile exclusive. Time will tell us.
For now, plan to play only on your phone or tablet (or in a PC emulation suite).
