The game we love is back.

The Associated Press on Monday unveiled its top 25 college football rankings before the pre-season, which determines who will be the best of the media this fall. Clemson took first place, followed by Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and the Ohio State to complete the top 5.

Among the other so-called champions of the national championship in the Top 10 are LSU, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame and Texas.

Alabama holds the record for the highest number of all-time entries in No. 1 AP Top 25 poll (118) and is the only program to feature in all playoffs since university football was created. The Top 25 AP Poll is no longer as important as it used to be – the voters chose the national champion alone – and has lost some of its glamor since the playoff standings began with a selection committee determining hierarchical order in 2014.

Nevertheless, the AP poll and the Amway Coaching Survey are catching the attention each week until the playoff rankings are unveiled starting the 10th week of the regular season.

University football is celebrating its 150th birthday this fall. The coup will be given Saturday night in Orlando when Florida will meet Miami in a rivalry war in the Sunshine State. The Gators have 10 wins in the first campaign of Dan Mullen and the Hurricanes are in a year of transition under the head coach, Manny Diaz.

Let the fireworks begin.

Here is a preview of the Top 25 of this season's preseason:
