Puma's first smart watch has Wear OS and correct specifications, but the market is cluttered

Among the many smart watches debuting at the IFA this year, Puma is throwing his hat on the ring for the very first time.

The Puma smartwatch is inspired by the recent Fossil smartwatch range. It is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 SoC and incorporates a GPS, a heart rate sensor and the NFC for Google Pay.

Unfortunately, it may not have the power to manage Google Wear OS in the same way as the Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch – the Puma smartwatch has only 512MB of RAM, as well as 4GB of storage for music and applications. Previously, we found that Wear OS watches tended to underperform if there was less than 1 GB of RAM. However, we will reserve our judgment until we have the opportunity to check the device in person this week.

Elsewhere, the Puma watch has a 1.19 inch AMOLED display, a 44 mm nylon and aluminum case, a 3ATM water resistance and a battery that takes about 50 minutes to reach a 80% charge. Puma has also created a handful of custom dials, all of which will be pre-installed on the Puma watch.

The Puma smartwatch will be available in November in the black, yellow and white color options priced at $ 275 / £ 269 from puma.com and other retailers.

The Puma smartwatch will definitely appeal to Puma fans – but how will it resist the flood of other smartwatches coming to the market? The Fossil Smartwatch Gen 5 is more powerful than the Puma smartwatch, and Fitbit and Garmin soon have new smartwatches.
