Our good friend Sean Mitchell bought a used first-generation Tesla Model S years ago. He drives tons of miles for his freelance realtor job in Colorado, so he put many miles on the car. Many thought Mitchell would have invested in a new Tesla, but he stuck with the old Model S for the long haul. At this point, he has nearly 230,000 miles.
Mitchell is one of the first YouTube influencers that we started to follow and cover on a regular basis. We were very interested in its old high mileage Model S and its in-depth and well-researched content. So how is the Model S doing now? Would he buy it again? Does he recommend buying a Tesla?

Mitchell could have run to buy a Model 3 from launch, but with a perfectly capable Model S in this garage, there really was no reason to rush.
Sean examines how much it cost him to own his Tesla Model S. He bought it in September 2016 with a 60 kWh battery. The pack was replaced and improved by a 75 kWh pack, which was covered by the warranty. Sean says the reason he bought the Tesla was to cut operating costs because he drives so much.
