Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is about to negotiate a deal with the New Orleans Saints, but no deal has yet been reached, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN Tuesday.
The news that the team should sign Bridgewater again has been reported for the first time by the NFL network.
Bridgewater, a former first round pick, was Drew Brees' replacement with the Saints last season. That was another milestone in the return of Bridgewater after a devastating knee injury suffered in 2016, when he was with the Minnesota Vikings.

Bridgewater, 26, was 11-5 and a playoff appearance in 2015, his second season with the Vikings. However, his career was interrupted for nearly two full seasons after a terrible left knee injury that occurred in the summer of 2016, which included a torn ACL and other structural damage.
Last March, he signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets as a free agent, before being traded to the Saints during the pre-season for a third-round pick in 2019. Bridgewater debuted in nearly three years when the Saints let Brees rest during the 17th week.
Although Bridgewater raised only 118 yards with a touchdown and interception in a loss against the Carolina Panthers, he continued to show teams that he was in good health.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound player was ranked 32nd overall by the Vikings in 2014. He went 6-6 as a starting starter and helped Minnesota reach the playoffs the following season. He had 6,150 yards, 28 touchdowns and 21 steals in both seasons.
