Qualcomm (QCOM) debuts in smartphone market with ASUS Tie-Up

[ad_1]

At a time when the tech industry as a whole is reeling from a severe global chip shortage, Qualcomm Incorporated QCOM has taken the world by storm by entering the smartphone market with one of its flagship chips. The business was made possible through a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based telecommunications equipment maker ASUS, and is an ode to the community of 1.6 million Snapdragon Insiders.

Snapdragon Insiders is a community of tech enthusiasts who have the privilege of being the first of many to celebrate, interact with, and learn about the latest Snapdragon offerings. They also have access to small group interactions with content creators and Qualcomm experts for first-hand experience of technological innovations.

Dubbed Snapdragon Smartphone for Insiders (EXP21), the smartphone is co-designed and manufactured by ASUS. It runs on the Snapdragon 888 processor and is equipped with an AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution and Corning IncorporatedGLW’s GLW Victus Gorilla Glass – one of the toughest scratch-resistant lenses available on the market that protects devices in the event of a drop. Although Snapdragon 888 Plus is Qualcomm’s latest SoC (System-on-Chip), it is not used in this high-end device as ASUS reportedly started the system design process a few months ago so that the chip had not yet been launched. .

Based on the design of ROG Phone 5, ASUS ‘latest flagship smartphone, the device has a 24MP front camera and 64MP + 12MP + 8MP triple camera setup on the back with Sony Group Company SONY sensors for superior picture and video quality. Despite such attractive features for customers, the main focus of this smartphone is allegedly to showcase the latest Qualcomm technologies, including the Snapdragon 888 processor, Quick Charge 5.0, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive and Snapdragon Sound, and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch.

The Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 is said to be the world’s fastest commercial charging solution that fully charges a phone in under 15 minutes. AptX Adaptive and Snapdragon Sound technology helps synchronize the audio experience with on-screen action by delivering ultra-low latency of just 89 milliseconds, so there is no lag between the phone and headphones. Game Quick Touch technology delivers faster display responsiveness and lower latency by increasing display touch speed by up to 20%.

Qualcomm is reportedly the only chipset vendor with 5G system level solutions covering both sub-6 and millimeter wavebands and one of the largest RF (radio frequency) front-end vendors with design wins among all customers of high-end smartphones. It is one of the largest manufacturers of wireless chipsets based on baseband technology. The company is focused on maintaining its leadership in 5G, the chipset market and mobile connectivity with several technological achievements and innovative product launches. The chipmaker is likely to help users experience a seamless transition to lightning-fast 5G networks, delivering resilient, low-power multi-gigabit connectivity with unprecedented reach and world-class security. This should provide the flexibility and scalability needed for wide and rapid adoption of 5G through accelerated OEM-to-market.

For 2021, 5G handsets are expected to experience 150% year-over-year growth midway through, reaching around 450 to 550 units. With over 700 5G designs announced or in development, the company is well positioned to benefit from strong 5G traction with greater visibility to meet its long-term revenue goals.

The stock has gained 54.8% in the past year compared to the industry’s growth of 51.2%.
