Quarterback Justin Fields ran the scoreboard for 40 yards in an unofficial time of 4.44 seconds on Ohio State Professional Day Tuesday.
The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Fields, who are expected to be a first-round selection in next month’s NFL Draft, are gearing up and pitching for the 31 NFL teams reportedly in attendance. The Los Angeles Rams are the only team not in attendance, according to NFL Network.
Draft prospects are working for the teams on their respective professional days instead of the NFL Reconnaissance Combine in Indianapolis, which was canceled this year due to the pandemic.
According to ESPN Stats & Information, only one other quarterback ran a faster time at the Reconnaissance Combine – Robert Griffin III, who ran a 4.41 in the 40 in 2012. Marcus Mariota, with a 4, 52 in 2015, ranks second.
Fields is one of at least five quarterbacks screened as a first-round pick, with Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence expected to go No.1 overall, and BYU’s Zach Wilson, Alabama’s Mac Jones and Trey Lance’s Trey Lance. State of North Dakota also attracting attention as a potential top pick. ten.

Fields had 5,373 yards, 63 touchdowns and nine interceptions in two seasons at Ohio State after starting his career in Georgia.
