Queen Elizabeth II has given Kate Middleton a huge honor

Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middletonis now a lady.

Buckingham Palace announced Monday that the royal mother of three children had been appointed Grand Cross Lady of the Royal Victorian Order by her famous brother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.

The title serves to recognize the services rendered to the sovereign and constitutes the highest rank in the order personally assigned by the queen. It may be assumed that the monarch regarded Kate's work as a member of the royal family in granting this honor.

Honor is a particularly important day as Monday also marks Kate and Prince William8th wedding anniversary. The two men made unforgettable connections during a fairytale wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

Now, in addition to the mother and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate joins a group of members of the royal family, including Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Sophie, countess of WessexWith his new title. The order was founded by Queen Victoria in 1896 and the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Anne, serves as a grandmaster.

Needless to say, this is a nice gift for Middleton on a special day.
