Queen Elizabeth issues statement on coronavirus outbreak
Amid the rapid COVID-19 outbreak, the British monarch issued a statement addressing the current and future challenges presented by the pandemic. Here’s how the Queen shows her determination to support the people of the United Kingdom in these uncertain times.
Queen Elizabeth II is apparently enjoying a well-deserved break after decades of royal service.
The British monarch has spent most of the last year in isolation at Windsor Castle with her husband Prince Philip amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to palace insiders, the 94-year-old is making the most of the extra time for herself.
“In his twilight years I’m sure it’s nice enough not to have the pressure [of a full calendar of public events]A source close to the queen told People magazine on Thursday.
“It may be the only light rest she’s ever had in her whole life,” the source continued. “She’s fine. She’s in good shape.”

The outlet shared that Elizabeth generally works mainly in London while Philip, 99, lives at Wood Farm near Sandringham. The Duke of Edinburgh retired from royal duties in 2017.
But now that the couple have isolated themselves, they dine together every night. And throughout the pandemic, Elizabeth has been enjoying her free time on her Fell ponies.
“She goes into a peaceful mode when she’s with horses,” said close friend and equine advisor Monty Roberts.
Even though Elizabeth has been largely out of public view since 2020, she hasn’t completely forgotten about her royal duties. In April, she approached the pandemic with an inspiring speech and also gave her annual Christmas show. And like many of us, she relies on Zoom to connect with colleagues and loved ones.

On New Years Eve, the Queen said “better days will come” in a caption from a collage of photos from 2020 shared on Instagram.
Elizabeth, along with Philip, also received the coronavirus vaccine at Windsor Castle earlier this month. She also sent a private message to Joe Biden before he officially took office as President of the United States.
Last April, the Queen’s son Prince Charles confirmed he had contracted COVID-19. The Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, went into isolation in Scotland, where he recovered. It was reported months later that Prince William had contracted the virus as well.
