Quentin Tarantino has vowed to never give his mother a dime due to his childhood vendetta

Once upon a time in the life of Quentin Tarantino his mother said something that didn’t support his aspirations as a filmmaker – and Tarantino hasn’t forgotten.

The famous director of “Pulp Fiction” told the podcast “The Moment“ in July that because of his mother’s comment, he would never give her any of his fortune.

During the podcast interview, Tarantino explained that he struggled in school due to lack of interest and was “officially known as the stupid kid in the class.” But he said when he was in college he developed a passion for scriptwriting and would work on it during class.

To Tarantino’s surprise, instead of viewing his penchant for screenwriting as an academic strength, teachers “saw him as a provocative act of rebellion,” he told host Brian Koppelman.

The filmmaker went on to say that his mother had always had problems with his “academic non-abilities”. One day, his mother started berating him after his teachers informed her that he was writing scripts instead of doing his homework.

“In the middle of her little tirade, she said, ‘Oh, and by the way, that little writing career’ – with the quotes and everything – ‘that little writing career that you do? This shit is over, ”he recalls.

This apparently had a major impact on young Tarantino.

“When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, in my head I was like, ‘OK, ma’am, when I become a successful writer, you will never see a dime of my success. There will be no home for you. There’s no vacation for you, no Elvis Cadillac for mom. You don’t get anything because you said that, ”he said.

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker said that in addition to helping him “with a jam with the IRS”, he stuck to that childhood promise to himself.

“There are consequences for your words when dealing with your children. Remember that there are consequences for your sarcasm about what is meaningful to them, ”he concluded.

Hopefully Tarantino, having become a father in February 2020, supports the passions of his son when he is growing a little.
