Coronavirus cases in the United States appear to be lower, with the seven-day average of newly reported infections falling below 50,000 for the first time in nearly a month. The United States reported 35,112 new cases of the virus on Monday, bringing the past seven-day average to 49,132, down nearly 10% from a week ago, according to CNBC analysis of data from Johns University Hopkins. New cases fall regularly at the start of the week as labs and local government offices reopen after the weekend.

  • Global cases: over 21.9 million
  • Deaths worldwide: at least 774,700
  • US cases: more than 5.44 million
  • Deaths in the United States: at least 170,500
