The Milwaukee Bucks narrowly edged the Dallas Mavericks, 112-109, for their seventh win in eight games.
NBA.com Box Score
Despite entering the game on the shorthand, the Mavericks gave Milwaukee more than enough to handle. The first half saw the Bucks only lead by eight, 55-47, in part because of a particularly poor half on the free throw line for Giannis Antetokounmpo with nine team turnovers.
Once again, the Mavericks returned to the game as the Bucks cooled off in third as Giannis rolled over the pin with a stupid fourth foul early in the period. As Dallas hung on, Khris Middleton pulled off several clutch lines in the dying minutes to secure a victory closer than it should have been for Milwaukee. They’ll be heading to Brooklyn for a likely game with their three new greats on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Stat that stood out
Shooting 1-10 FT for Giannis. I hate to stress it, considering we’ve all been through a lot of tweets about it, but there’s no avoiding an obviously putrid performance from the line. Giannis’ long, winding free-throw course never seems to find stable ground. Hope this is the nadir. It can’t be much uglier than that; Thankfully, he made up for that with a 14-21 night shoot from the ground. At least the Bucks took the win.
