R.E.M. have searched their vault and are offering fans the opportunity to download their lost song "Fascinating" via Bandcamp for $ 2 US to help the victims of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. All proceeds will go to help the victims of the hurricane and the Mercy Corps reconstruction efforts in the Bahamas. "I'm glad the song is available now," bassist Mike Mills tells the story Rolling stone. "But I'm sorry, that's for this particular situation."

"Fascinating" has been registered for Reveal in 2001 and almost made the record before being cut at the last second. "It's not that the song did not work," says Mills. "It's a really cool melodic figure and I think we've arranged it with oboe and flute, which you do not usually hear together. It's a strange song about alienation and I really liked it, but it does not belong in the disc.

They re-recorded the song in Nassau for 2004. Around the Sun, again, could not find his place in the album. But their minds came back to the issue recently when they wanted to publish something to help with the terrible devastation that Dorian caused on the island. "I personally spent a lot of time where the hurricane lasted for two days," Mills said. "I know a lot of people who do not have a house, literally no house and no place to work. Everything went away, annihilated. It's heartbreaking for me. I wish we had more than we could do for that, but at least that's a start. "

This song is one of the many unreleased songs of the band's safe. There are also many full concerts that can see the day. "If the quality is good enough and some elements make the concert special, I'm ready to publish it," says Mills. "You do not want to throw things away just because you have a bootleg, but if the recording improves the songs and presents them in an unusual way, I'm absolutely open to more outings."
