Rachel Bilson has revealed that she was offered a place in the “The Hills” revival, but declined to be a part of the cast, making way for her former “The OC” co-star, Mischa Barton.
The 39-year-old actress was talking about the series on her podcast.
“I was actually asked to be on ‘The Hills’, which I graciously played,” she confessed. “And then they finally chose Mischa.”
Bilson said she didn’t know any of the original cast members, but had met Lauren Conrad a few times before. Conrad is not part of the reboot.

“I’ve met Lauren Conrad before, but she’s not even on that [new] show… I really like Lauren, “said the” Hart of Dixie “star.” I know her a little, a little bit and she’s cool. But I don’t know anyone from ‘The Hills’, no. “
Bilson and Barton respectively played best friends Summer Roberts and Marissa Cooper in the 2003-2007 Fox drama series about wealthy teens living in Southern California.
Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson co-starred in “The OC” together earlier in the years.

Marissa was then killed in the third season of the series. The popularity of “The OC” with young audiences inspired MTV to create the iconic reality TV series “Laguna Beach” and later the original “Hills” show.

“The Hills” aired from 2006 to 2010 and the cover show “New Beginnings” premiered in 2019. The show features the familiar faces of Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Whitney Port, Spencer Pratt and Brody Jenner .
Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado and Brandon Thomas Lee (son of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee) are also cast.
