Rachel Bilson said she was “super disappointed” when former classmate Rami Malek asked her to take a retrospective photo of them on Instagram.
In February 2019, Bilson shared a photo of herself with the Bohemian Rhapsody star – with whom she attended Notre Dame High School in Los Angeles – when they were teenagers on a trip to New York City.
But the OC the actor now said about Dax Shepard Chair expert podcast that while she was amused by the “silly” image posted just before Malek’s Oscar win for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury, he didn’t feel the same.

The 39-year-old then recounted their relationship, saying they were “good friends” at the time.
“I had posted a review of us from our senior trip to New York, Broadway,” she explained. “We’re super cheesy… just the silliest image of the two of us.” But I throw it away, because it’s funny and I think it’s so important to be able to make fun of yourself. “
Bilson said she checked her Instagram direct messages a week later to see that Malek had made contact.
“It wasn’t like, ‘Hey! How are you?’ It was blunt: ‘I would really appreciate it if you took that out. I am a really private person, ”she said.
“I was like, ‘Oh, shit! OKAY.’ I’m really hot and I’m starting to sweat. I’m all nervous, like ‘Oh my God! What did I do?’ He was a good friend of mine, it’s a funny picture… you know? I don’t take myself too seriously, ”Bilson continued.

She noted that her stylist, also a friend of hers, said “this is not a nice picture of him”.
“I was like, I guess I should have found something more flattering,” Bilson said. “But I took him off and even wrote him a very nice message: ‘I’m so sorry. Go get the Oscar! You are doing amazing. ‘And I never hear anything back, which is good. But I was super disappointed because he was still so nice and we were good friends. “
Bilson added that she was “a little disappointed” with the way this had been “handled”.
