The Raiders said at the start of the season that we should see them as contenders for the AFC.
Las Vegas improved to 2-0 today as they traveled to Pittsburgh and claimed a fierce 26-17 victory. After a short week of work following their victory over the Ravens in Monday Night Football, the Raiders’ offense has played well against a solid defense from the Steelers.
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr recovered from an ankle injury and completed 28 of 37 passes for 382 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His favorite receiver was Henry Ruggs, who had five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown.
The Steelers’ defense was not at full strength, as Tyson Alualu left with a broken ankle and TJ Watt left with a groin injury.
Ben Roethlisberger was OK for the Steelers, completing 26 of 39 passes for 284 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He didn’t receive much help from the running game, as the Steelers totaled just 39 rushing yards, on 14 carries.
At 2-0 and with both wins against teams with AFC playoff aspirations, the Raiders must be feeling very good about themselves. The Steelers, who looked so impressive in Week 1, are now down to 1-1.
