Raiders news: Bryan Edwards drives people crazy

Let’s just say the Las Vegas Raiders are excited about wide receiver Bryan Edwards as he enters his second season in the NFL.

First, Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Edwards reminded him of Terrell Owens. Then Raiders quarterback Derek Carr said the 2020 third-round pick in South Carolina reminded him of college teammate Davante Adams. Next, a reporter for the Raiders team said Edwards reminded him of Randy Moss.

So ok. For those who matter at home, Edwards invokes comparisons between two members of the Professional Football Hall of Fame and the current top receiver in the game.

Sweet.

On Tuesday 2020, first-round draft pick Henry Ruggs had a big day – and Wednesday it was Edwards’ turn.

Edwards made this spectacular capture in training on Wednesday:

Carr is excited about Edwards, who has only had 11 receptions in 12 games as a rookie after having a solid rookie training camp. Carr feels Edwards is ready for prime time.

“You know what, it reminds me a lot of Davante when he first entered college. He was wearing a red shirt, but I wanted to throw every pass at him,” Carr said Wednesday.

“Even though we were preparing for the games, I still threw his representative. Just build that time on the job. So it was the same with Bryan when he wasn’t starting, I was still trying to throw his rep every day in training. Now I see it translating … He works extremely hard. I am very proud of him.

Edwards told reporters he was trying to take advantage of his opportunities. Star tight end Darren Waller, who is essentially the team’s No.1 receiver, has been out with an undisclosed issue (it shouldn’t be serious) for the past few days.

Carr said it was nice to see Ruggs and Edwards perform with Waller.

“When Darren is over there, I check the plays to give him the ball. When he’s not there it’s fun for me and (Gruden) because I’m checking the games for someone else to watch. “Alright, you’re one-on-one, you’ve got to show us if you can do it.” I think we saw Henry yesterday [Ruggs III] step up the time on some field type games and even across the field today. Then you saw Bryan today, really step up today, ”Carr said.

If the Raiders can get Ruggs and Edwards to work while Waller is on the field during the regular season, that offense can be special.
