Mother Nature was in no mood for NASCAR on Sunday as continued rain forced Sunday’s playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway to be postponed until Monday.

The Cup Series will try to get things going at noon local time (1 p.m. ET) on the Alabama track.

NASCAR’s policy is that it will not start a race unless there is enough time to potentially complete it, which sets a 2:45 p.m. deadline for the YellaWood 500 at Talladega, which has no light for night races, according to Bob Pockrass, Fox Sports reporter.

The race, which was originally scheduled to air on NBC on Sunday, will now air on the NBC Sports network and will have to cover 94 of the 188 laps scheduled to be considered official.

Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch will start first in a lineup based on recent unqualified performances, followed by Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney.

There is more rain in the forecast for Monday, but NASCAR has not announced a contingency plan if the race is postponed again. The next event and final race in the Round of 12 is scheduled for Charlotte, NC on October 10.,
