Rainbow Six Siege will feature modes that prioritize performance or resolution, along with a slew of visual upgrades, when its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions launch on December 1, Ubisoft announced Tuesday.

Seat will get a performance mode, which targets a frame rate of 120 fps with dynamic 4K resolution, and a resolution mode, which will opt for 60 fps action at locked 4K resolution. This will apply to both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. On the Xbox Series S, Ubisoft said, performance mode will target 120 fps at 1080p; the resolution mode will rotate at 60 fps at 1728p.

“The graphics power of the PlayStation 5 helps improve lighting and depth of field, especially over long distances,” Sony’s Tim Turi said in a PlayStation blog post. “Get ready to literally see your favorite card in a whole new light and discover new levels of detail.”

The PlayStation 5 version of Seat will have exclusive features thanks to the DualSense controller. “Squeezing the trigger emulates the resistance of an actual trigger,” Turi said. This resistance will vary according to the weapon: light and fast for the pistols, heavier for the LMG. “Players will also be able to feel the difference between a single shot and an automatic shot for full immersion,” Turi added.

Players with a current copy of Rainbow Six Siege on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X version at no cost. Their progress and inventories will also continue. In addition, cross-play will be activated between Seat players on PS4 and PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Ubisoft in March confirmed cross-gen gaming capability for Rainbow Six Siege, and the PS4 and Xbox One versions are already backward compatible on the new consoles.
