OfficeRainn Wilson has a new job (dangerous). The actor formerly known as Dwight Schrute has landed a leading role in Utopia, The next drama series of nine episodes of Amazon Sharp objects and Missing girl author Gillian Flynn, TVLine learned.
Adapted from the British series of the same name, Utopia focuses on a group of young adults who meet online and are ruthlessly driven out by a dark, gloomy organization after seizing an almost mythical underground graphic novel. In the pages of the comics, they discover conspiracy theories that can be real and are forced to take the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.
Wilson – who joins a cast that also includes Sasha Lane (American honey) – will play Michael Stearns, a once promising virologist who lost his advantage. When a life-threatening flu epidemic breaks out nationally, Michael offers his expertise and quickly discovers that he has landed in the middle of something much bigger.
Since the beginning of Office, Wilson appeared in Fox Backstrom, Showtime roadies and, more recently, Room 104 and CBS All Access' Star Trek: Discovery.
