BROOKLYN, MI – After two sunny days on the Michigan International Speedway, Mother Nature has arrived.

The rain began to fall on the runway Sunday morning and the National Meteorological Service's forecasts are not promising for later in the day. The FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled for 14:00.

Rain stopped around 10 am and jet dryers hit the track to remove moisture.

There is 60 percent chance of rain at 14:00, by the NWS. The potential for precipitation increases throughout the afternoon and does not fall below 50% chance of rain until 14:00. On Monday.

MIS is no stranger to the rain. The two NASCAR races in June were shortened because of the rain in 2018. Six of the 99 races in the MIS Cup series ended prematurely because of bad weather.

International Speedway Corporation, owner of MIS, has a ticket exchange policy for all races postponed due to weather conditions. Unused tickets may be exchanged for tickets of equal or lesser value on any ISC track in the coming year, excluding the Daytona 500.

Sunday's race at MIS has not been postponed. The pre-race activities have been extended by 10 minutes and it is planned to raise the green flag at 14 hours.
