Rams promote Micah Kiser and Justin Lawler to practice squad for week 2

Teams are allowed to promote two players each week from the practice squad, effectively giving them a roster of 55 players before each game. For this week’s game with the Colts, the Rams are promoting Justin Lawler again, but they’re also calling Micah Kiser.

Kiser was a starter for the Rams last season before getting injured, limiting him to just nine games. He was waived in the roster’s final cup this summer and was quickly signed to the practice squad.

Lawler was also cut before the season, but has returned to the practice squad, and is now ready to be active for the second week in a row. The Rams are thin deep at the outside linebacker with Ogbonnia Okoronkwo on the injured reserve, so Lawler will be placed behind Leonard Floyd, Justin Hollins, Terrell Lewis and Chris Garrett.

While the Colts are expected to throw the ball a bunch on Sunday, the Rams need a linebacker help, assuming they’re not in the nickel for most of the game.
