An amateur video game developer known as Dopply on Twitter released reimagined remakes of the 1993 Phillips CD-i action-adventure games Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Gamelon’s wand.
The games were created in Game Maker over four years and feature the original elements. Here is a little more information:
“I developed them over the course of 4 years in Game Maker as an exercise to teach myself game development and make a joke with friends. As an amateur endeavor, programming got a bit difficult, but hey, that walk, and I learned a ton in the process. “
While these are “not 1: 1 remakes”, Dopply believes they “capture the spirit” of the original games. There are modern features as well – like widescreen mode, remastered mode (for a less frustrating game), subtitles, improved sprites, unlockables, and seemingly more.
Due to the “nature” of these games, this is the final version and there are no plans to release any future updates. In related news, Zelda fans believe they spotted a Link CD-i reference in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
