Random Nevada shooting leaves 1 dead, 4 injured; suspects arrested in Arizona, police say

One person was killed and four others were injured in Nevada, where police said an imbalanced couple embarked on a city-wide drive-by shootout at the start of Thanksgiving, authorities said.

Henderson Police and Firefighters began receiving “several” calls shortly after 12:30 p.m. Thursday from various people – from different parts of town – who reported gunshots being fired at them, according to a press release later in the day.

Minutes before 1 a.m., police received a report of a shooting on East Lake Mead Drive and arrived to find five people had been wounded or injured, authorities said.

A 22-year-old man was discovered by gunshot and killed at the scene. Police said four other people – a 23-year-old woman and three men aged 18, 41 and 53 – were injured. It was not known if all four were affected, but they had to survive their injuries.

“At first, it is believed that the suspects were driving around town shooting at random citizens for no apparent reason,” police said.

Police initially identified the suspects as a man who is believed to be between 20 and 30 with a beard and a woman who is in her 20s, both tattooed or painted on their faces.

Investigators later located the couple in Arizona, where they were arrested on charges unrelated to police, police said.

Arizona investigators have linked the suspects to multiple shootings in the state, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

La Paz County Sheriff in Arizona, William Risen, told the news site authorities moved in to arrest the two men on Thursday, when bullets were fired. One of those arrested in Arizona was flown to a local hospital by helicopter following the shooting involving police, according to the report.

Both investigations remain active and ongoing.
