As you’ve probably seen already, Square Enix has announced a sequel to the Nintendo DS classic, The world ends with you.
Shortly after NEO: The world ends with you for the Switch and the PlayStation 4 has been revealed, Person 5 started to follow social media platforms like Twitter. The reason? As Gamerant noted, some people think the sequel to The World Ends With You looks a bit too much like P5, which has caused the topic to explode online.
It didn’t take long for TWEWY fans to point out that the original DS title was released long before P5 existed.
One similarity that keeps popping up is that both JRPGs are located in Tokyo and feature the Shibuya shopping district. The aesthetics of the two games are also quite compared. Many tweets are now joking about how all is a Persona 5 scam, according to the fanbase of this game.
Again, TWEWY was released in 2007 – roughly nine years before Persona 5 was originally released on PlayStation platforms. Maybe at best, it’s drawn some inspiration – even then, this sequel just seems to stay true to the design of the original. What do you think of all this? Leave a comment below.
