Update: And to follow up on all that, the leader of Celadon City’s Grass-type Gymnasium has just been defeated. Rainbow badge received!

Another week has passed, so what happened in the social media experience on Twitter is playing into Pokémon Red… in the avatar of a talented programmer? Well, read on!

After defeating Misty, the leader of the Cerulean City Water-type Gymnasium, Twitter boarded the SSAnne in Vermilion City and faced off against her former rival Blue. According to reports (via the Discord channel for this experience on social networks), Twitter’s party wasn’t in the best shape to fight everyone on board and didn’t bother to heal before the big game. Fortunately, it was a relatively easy battle with Fearow, now known as “CHAD”, in the end, dealing a super effective blow to Blue’s Ivysaur.

Shortly after acquiring this HM01 (Cut), and just days after the big win over Misty, Twitter was able to defeat the leader of the Vermilion Electric-Type Gym, Lieutenant Surge. Despite all the odds, Twitter was able to solve the Gym’s puzzle on the first try and quickly got the downstairs coaches to work. In the battle against Lt Surge, Twitter aligned the Rock-type Geodude. He wiped out the entire group of Surge and defeated his last pocket monster, Raichu, in one fell swoop. The reward, of course, was the insignia of thunder.

Since then, Twitter has gone through Diglett Cave, acquired HM05 (Flash), evolved Geodude and Oddish, made its way through Rock Tunnel, and most recently obtained HM02 (Fly) and scored a free Eevee.

The current group is made up of a level 27 Fearow (TCHAD), level 27 Graveler (ABBPRI), level 30 Wartortle (AMAYBE), level 28 Alakazam, level 22 Gloom (curse) and a level 25 Eevee (DHY).

So that makes three badges at the time of writing – who knows what Twitter will have achieved in-game by the end of next week. Are you as impressed as we are with the progress the internet has made so far, given that it plays in someone’s Twitter avatar?
