Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford called the review bombing "misuse" of the Steam review system and blamed Valve for failing to resolve the problem.
Pitchford's comments were made on Twitter, regarding the Borderlands series being critically reviewed on Steam after the announcement of the six-month exclusivity on Epic Games Store.
"Ironically, this misuse is possible and Steam has no interest in correcting this error, I'm rather happy with the 2k decision and wanting to reconsider Gearbox Publishing's current position on the platform," he said. tweeted (via IGN).
Valve recently introduced off-the-record reports on Steam that aim to combat reporting bombs to some extent. In the event of a mass influx of negative evaluations, they will not be included in the evaluation note, but will remain visible.
Ironically, the fact that this misuse is possible and that Steam has no interest in correcting this use makes me quite happy with the 2k decision and makes me want to reconsider Gearbox Publishing's current position on the platform.

In response to another Twitter user explaining that the review-bombing would not have taken place "if there was no exclusivity agreement", Pitchford called their "victim accusing bullshit" and quickly closed them.
We will know more about Borderlands 3 on May 1st during the revelation.
Borderlands 3 will be released on September 13 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
