Randy Travis will be on tour again. The singer and his wife Mary announced that they would join the Music of Randy Travis tour this fall, replacing James Dupré's icon.
Twelve 2019 tour dates have been announced for October and November, beginning with a show in Indianapolis, Ind. October 16th, and ending with a show on November 2nd in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Dupré is a country singer and former competitor of The voice on NBC. He became friends with Travis and Mary when he played with Travis in a movie called The price, released in 2015 but filmed before the 60 years suffered a stroke in 2013.
The original group Randy Travis will join the tour, which particularly interests Travis. At a press conference announcing the tour of Wednesday, September 4, Mary Travis explained how they all called "Hoss" while they were on the road, a name that her husband has of again want to hear. She also evoked Travis' eagerness to get around whenever they saw a tourist bus coming down on the highway.

The 12 shows are the first since 2013, when a heart infection resulted in a debilitating stroke making singing impossible for Travis. In the years following his rehabilitation, he is able to walk alone, pronounce a few words and sing some songs such as "Amazing Grace". Hearing his own music was very difficult for many years, but slowly he yearned again to hear his voice.
Dupré was chosen because of the nature of their relationship but also because – as Mary says – her voice is similar to that of Travis. Among the shows, there will be a stop on October 28 at the Ryman Auditorim in Nashville. Each night, the set will include Travis's 16 No. 1 tubes as well as Randy and Mary. VIP ticket holders will also have the chance to hang it before the show.
Travis was inducted into the country music hall of fame in 2016.
