We are quickly approaching the trade freeze which will be lifted at 1 p.m. ET today. Here is several quick facts about the New York Rangers to know.

Top Insider calls Rangers a team to watch

Frank Seravalli, now a part of the Daily Faceoff, absolutely crushed the expanding NHL and ESPN broadcast at Seattle Kraken yesterday. He almost single-handedly disclosed every selection.

Today, in his latest post, he calls the Rangers a “team to watch” and says Chris Drury has “multiple irons in the fire”.

To break down what he hears:

  • Kraken interested in Ryan Strome
  • Rangers have been buying Pavel Buchnevich for weeks
  • Alex Georgiev is looking for a change of scenery, the Rangers for shopping

From what I can understand, Strome has several teams on him, including, but not limited to, the Ottawa Senators. Seravalli noted that the Rangers have also called on the top 10 teams in the draft to progress. It sounds like a connection to Jack Eichel if you ask me.

There are also rumors that the Predators and Blues have offers on the table for Buchnevich. According to Mollie Walker who spoke with her agent, they want something long term and at this point the Rangers haven’t really made a commitment. It looks like the Rangers are advancing here.

Finally, with Keith Kinkaid still in the team and signed for next season. Georgiev is expendable.

On those Jack Eichel medical records

Larry Brooks reported earlier today that the Rangers have yet to see Eichel’s medical records and therefore no deal has been reached. Here is the story, no one has seen these reports. Elliotte Friedman was on WGR550 in Buffalo after this tweet and couldn’t name a team that might have access either. He might be thinking about Anaheim, but he just doesn’t know.

Although the Sabers have held these files hostage, that does not mean that some information could not be released. Still, any team trading for this contract wants to see what the Sabers have – period – period.

The Sabers want a first-round pick for him and the draft will take place tomorrow night. Things could get very busy on Eichel’s frontline soon.
