Rangers swap Kevin Hayes for Winnipeg Jets

The Rangers continued trading some of their belongings before the 3:00 pm NHL. Deadline Monday.

After sending Mats Zuccarello this weekend, the Blueshirts announced they had reached an agreement with the Winnipeg Jets involving Kevin Hayes.

The Rangers traded the 26-year-old center in Winnipeg in exchange for a first-round pick in 2019, Brendan Lemieux, and a fourth round draft pick in the draft NHL in 2022 as part of of the transaction.

Hayes has been one of the Rangers' rare positives this season, accumulating 42 points (14 goals, 28 assists) in 51 games, but is on the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent this season.

Lemieux, 22, is the son of former Devils player Claude Lemieux, who won a Stanley Cup with New Jersey in 1995.
