They say you can not start judging a baseball season before 40 games, which means it's time to start judging. Most Major League Baseball teams have just crossed the 40-game mark. We have almost a quarter of the 2019 season.
Some areas here will not be a surprise. We sort of thought that teams like the Dodgers and Astros would be great. The Marlins and Orioles being terrible was pretty predictable, too. Like every season, pleasant surprises as well as quite important disappointments (hello, Washington DC!).
The ratings below are subjective and it is clear that the expectations of the team entering the season matter. It's much worse when a team that is waiting to argue is terrible than when a tanking team is bad.
