Rappers Quavo and Saweetie broke their silence on a video that appeared to show an altercation between the two in an elevator.
Quavo, real name Quavious Keyate Marshall, and Saweetie, born Diamonté Harper, recently separated after two years of dating. Earlier this week, TMZ posted video of the former couple appearing to be in a physical altercation in an elevator. It was reportedly held at Saweetie’s apartment in Los Angeles, California sometime in 2020.
After remaining silent on the video after its first appearance, the two rappers addressed the situation in separate statements on Thursday.
“We had an unfortunate situation almost a year ago that we both learned about and came out of,” Quavo said in a statement to People magazine.

Quavo has denied physically abusing his ex-girlfriend Saweetie after a video appeared to show the two in an elevator altercation.

He also denied that he physically abused Saweetie.
“I didn’t physically abuse Saweetie and I have real gratitude for what we shared overall,” added rapper Migos.
Saweetie also reacted to the video by confirming that the couple had “reconciled” following the “unfortunate” incident.

“This unfortunate incident happened over a year ago. Although we have since reconciled and got over this particular disagreement, there were just too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we both had evolved since then, ”Saweetie, 27, told the magazine. .
Saweetie recently confirmed that she and rapper Migos are separated.

Representatives for Saweetie and Quavo did not immediately respond to Fox News requests for comment.
In the video, Saweetie appears to hit Quavo before attempting to throw a suitcase outside an elevator. Quavo then seems to be dragging his ex in the elevator with him before landing on her with the suitcase.
The next minute of the footage shows Saweetie lying on the floor and struggling to get up. Quavo gets out of the elevator first before Saweetie gets up and limps away looking at her.

Just a few weeks ago, Saweetie confirmed that the pair had broken up.

Saweetie, posting an Instagram photo the same day, captioned a photo of the huddled couple with the words “Fight Night,” which is one of Quavo’s songs.
