The Toronto Raptors have been mentioned extensively in trade rumors surrounding star point guard Kyle Lowry. While it looks like the two sides want to go their separate ways, the franchise wants to make sure they give Lowry a chance to compete. At this point, the Philadelphia 76ers are at the top of Lowry’s wishlist.
According to a report by Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, Lowry would like to be traded to the 76ers before the trade deadline.
“A source said Kyle Lowry would like to be in Philadelphia. The source believes the Sixers and Raptors might be able to do something. But if that happens, Toronto would likely want picks, young players and veterans with expiring contracts.
Lowry has had a solid season with the Raptors so far this year. He averages 18.0 points per game to go along with 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds. On top of those numbers, he shot 46.1% from the floor overall and knocked down 39.5% of his three-point attempts.
At 34, Lowry still has a lot of good basketball in him. If the 76ers could acquire it, it would give them a huge offensive boost.
If a trade were to take place, Kyle Lowry would slip in as the 76ers’ starting goalie. Ben Simmons would be able to play further off the ball. When Simmons handled the ball, Lowry could thrive as a point shooter.
Needless to say, the move to the 76ers would give Lowry a chance to compete. It’s something the Raptors want to make sure they do. Lowry meant a lot to their franchise and they want to do the right thing.
Other teams that might be in the market to trade for Lowry are the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. Either of these three destinations would be perfect for Lowry.
Expect to hear more rumors regarding the Raptors, 76ers and Kyle Lowry as the trade deadline approaches. There is a good chance that something will happen soon.
