Longtime country music star Rascal Flatts guitarist Joe Don Rooney was arrested on Thursday for drunk driving outside of Nashville.
Representatives from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department told Fox News that a deputy responded to a motor vehicle accident around 4 a.m. local time on September 9. Rooney, who had crashed into his car in the tree line, was taken to Williamson County Jail and later released after posting $ 2,500 bail. He was reportedly not injured in the accident.
The group’s representative did not comment for Fox News.
Rooney, 45, founded Rascal Flatts in 1999, along with first cousins Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus. In January 2020, the group announced that they would go their separate ways after 21 years together and embark on a farewell tour, which was indefinitely postponed until May of the same year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rooney’s first group was called Unclethumbtack, a detail Page Six believes he cannot in good conscience overlook. Rascal Flatts ‘debut single in 2000, “Prayin’ for Daylight,” reached No. 3 on the Billboard country charts and the band has been pop country royalty ever since.
In 2006, Rooney married former Miss Georgia – and Miss USA 2001 finalist, and Playboy Playmate of the Year 2005 – Tiffany Fallon.
Rooney first laid eyes on Fallon in Toby Keith’s “Who’s Your Daddy” video, according to country music site The Boot. “Jay called me one evening in April 2003 and said [DeMarcus’ now-wife] Allison and Tiffany were in town, ”adds the musician. “I was like, ‘Yeah! I would love to meet her! ‘”
They have three children: son Jagger Donovan Rooney (born May 31, 2008) and daughters Raquel Blue Rooney (born September 7, 2010) and Devon Olivia Rooney (born September 25, 2014).
