Lady A is the latest act to drop the 2020 Country Music Association (CMA) awards.
About an hour before the show, the group announced on Twitter that they would not be present as expected due to the coronavirus.
“Let’s go back to last year’s CMA Awards and how much fun we have every year spending time with our country music family!” they started in the post. “Unfortunately, one of our immediate family members just tested positive for COVID-19 this week.”
The group assured fans that so far none of them have tested positive, but “out of love for everyone involved” they will not be attending the awards.

“We are disappointed that we cannot play with Darius Rucker and Thomas Rhett, but fortunately Charles [Kelley] has already recorded his performance with Carly Pearce so you will always see him take the stage! They continued.
After saying they would cheer on their friends back home, the group urged their fans to “stay safe there.”

Their Twitter post was also accompanied by a photo of the trio.

Hillary Scott was also scheduled to perform “Be a Light” with Thomas Rhett, Reba McEntire, Chris Tomlin and Keith Urban.
Lady A is the third act to be forced to drop the event due to coronavirus.

The show also suffered another heavy blow when Rascal Flatts announced midway through the show that they too were absent from the concert after one of their members tested positive for the new disease.
“Hey Y’all, we wanted to let you know that we received a positive COVID test within the group,” they shared on twitter. “As much as we look forward to performing at the CMA Awards tonight, we will no longer be around for the sake of everyone’s safety. We miss you and stay safe!”
Florida Georgia Line was expected to operate until Tyler Hubbard tested positive for the new virus.

Like Hubbard, country singer Lee Brice has also tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to perform at CMAs with Carly Pearce.
