Ratchet and ClankInsomniac’s 2016 series reboot for PlayStation 4, will be patched on PlayStation 5 to run at 60 frames per second, the studio announced on Monday. Ratchet and Clank is currently available for everyone to download, free of charge, until Wednesday, March 31.

Ratchet and Clank was done free earlier this month as Sony Interactive Entertainment brought back its Play at Home initiative, to support sheltering, security and social distancing efforts during the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is accessible to anyone with a PlayStation Network account (free); PlayStation Plus or any other subscription is not required.

The next match in the Ratchet and Clank series, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, will offer a 4K resolution, a “resolution” mode at 30 fps, as well as a “performance” mode offering a resolution of less than 60 fps. Monday’s announcement didn’t say whether the 2016 game update would involve two options for the user or whether it would be a single resolution and frame rate in the future. The patch will be deployed during the month of April.

Ratchet and Clank is part of the PlayStation Plus collection of 20 games on PS5, so those with a PS Plus membership already have it. It was also released as a free game to PlayStation Plus subscribers in March 2018.

Nine more games went free through Play at Home on March 25: Abzu, Enter the Gungeon, Ground Infinite, Subnautica, and The witness for PS4; and Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Foam, Thumper, and Paper beast for PlayStation VR. They are available until April 22.

Horizon Zero Dawn, another title in the PS Plus collection, will be available for free from April 19 to May 14 as part of the Play at Home initiative.
