Ray Diaz, social media personality arrested for sexual assault, police say

According to police, actor and social media actor Raymundo Diaz was arrested on Friday following a recent incident of sexual assault.

The star of Instagram and YouTube, who is Ray Diaz on social media, built a brand from his workout videos and fitness tips.

The 33-year-old policeman was arrested around 5 am Friday in San Diego, with the help of the San Diego Police Department, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"Investigators from the Robbery Division of the Los Angeles Police Department have made an arrest in connection with a recent incident of sexual assault," the LAPD said in a statement.

A day earlier, the police department had tweeted that he was aware of a number of charges brought against the Hollywood native and that he was reviewing them.

Several media reports Diaz's link to videos published by DramaAlert, a site that features social media stars, allegedly showing the Instagram star verbally attacking a woman. On July 5, Diaz responded to accusations on Twitter, calling it "false news".

Diaz has 3.1 million followers on Instagram, but his account is currently private. It has more than 300,000 subscribers on YouTube.

He has also worked as a coach for FitPlan, an app that gives people the chance to work one-on-one with popular fitness trainers on social media. Although still advertised in her Instagram bio, her page seems to be inactive. The company did not immediately respond to ABC News's request for comment.

The bond of Diaz was fixed at 500 000 dollars.
