Razer brings new ultraportable PCs and gaming options for Windows 11

Windows 11 arrived yesterday, giving PC makers around the world an excuse to refresh their lines. Razer today announced new benchmarks for its Razer Book ultraportable laptop and Razer Blade 15 Advanced gaming laptop, and both come preloaded with Microsoft’s latest operating system. Of course, new PCs also come with new specs to consider.

New Razer Book

Razer’s roots are in PC gaming, but the Razer Book is the three-headed serpent’s attempt at a more mainstream laptop. The hull’s silver aluminum unibody chassis starts at just 2.9 pounds and 0.6 inches thick, making it competitive with ultraportables like Dell’s XPS 13.

Today’s announcement lowers the starting price of the Razer Book to $ 1,000. This gives you an i5-1135G7 quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and a 1920 × 1200 resolution display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Razer has also announced more powerful versions with an i7-1165G7. quad-core, 16GB of RAM, 512GB for $ 1,500 or 1TB of storage and a 3840 × 2100 display for $ 1,800.

New advanced model Razer Blade 15

Packed with an RTX 30 series mobile graphics card, the Blade 15 Advanced Model is obviously the gaming machine of the two, but compared to the majority of gaming laptops, its design is rather clean and understated. The laptop weighs just 4.4 pounds and is 0.67 inches thick.

There were already plenty of configuration options available for this laptop, but the two Razer added today use an i7-11800H octa-core. The cheapest, which sells for $ 2,700, has an RTX 3070 GPU, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a fast 240Hz screen with a resolution of 2560 × 1440. The advanced model costs $ 3,100 and has twice the RAM and a more powerful RTX 3080 GPU.

Windows 11 support confirmed

Razer noted today that owners of older Razer laptops will be able to upgrade to Windows 11 “soon” and that relevant Razer drivers will integrate automatically. You can find the full list of PCs supported by Razer here.

Razer also said that its software (like Synapse) and peripherals are all “fully compatible with Windows 11”.
