CLEVELAND – Running back Brown Kareem Hunt will spend part of his suspension from the NFL on re-education after an operation.
Hunt, who will serve an eight-game ban for two physical altercations off the field in 2018 while he was playing for Kansas City, was operated on Thursday for a sports hernia, just hours before the Browns played against Detroit at from their final show.
Hunt was supposed to play in what would have been his last match until the end of his ban in November. The Browns said the 24 – year – old should be fully recovered by the time he is qualified to join his roster for the November 10th game against Buffalo.
On Wednesday, the league declared that Hunt was not allowed to enter the team's premises during his suspension, which will come into effect at 4 pm on Saturday. The Browns had requested an exemption so that Hunt could be with his teammates while serving his penalty.
Hunt, who comes from the Cleveland area, will now have to readjust to his injury elsewhere.
The Browns took the league title of 2017 in February on the recommendation of GM John Dorsey, who drafted Hunt in the third round in 2017, while Dorsey was the general manager of Kansas City.
Commissioner Roger Goodell punished Hunt for violating the league's ethics policy following an investigation into both incidents. One of them had hit a woman during an argument in the hallway of a hotel in Cleveland where he was staying.
The Chiefs have released it in the last few weeks of their playoff campaign last season. The team was unhappy that Hunt lied to them about his involvement in the incidents.
Hunt won 1,327 rushing yards as a rookie. He had 824 rushing yards and 378 yards in 11 games in 2018 before the Chiefs broke away from him.
