Real Water’s bottled product, which has been linked to liver failure and non-viral hepatitis by the federal government, is still for sale online and being disseminated on social media despite the company’s voluntary recall, warns the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). .

“The FDA has realized that ‘Real Water’ brand alkaline water is still offered for sale through online retailers,” the FDA wrote in a March 31 update. no longer available to consumers. “

The FDA said it was conducting an audit “to assess the effectiveness” of the company’s recall. Real Water says that if “the potential problem has increased in Las Vegas, we are taking proactive steps to stop selling and distributing Real Water products across the United States until the problem is resolved.”

“Real Water is asking all retailers to immediately remove products from the shelf and keep them in the back room or return them to distributors,” the company says, asking all customers who have purchased the product to return it.

However, it appears that distributors have been left out of the loop, according to the FDA.

“As of March 31, 2021, the audit found that prior to contacting the FDA, a number of distributors had not received direct notification from the company regarding the recall. In addition, as of March 31, 2021, Real Water Inc. is still promoting the product via social media despite posting a recall announcement, ”the FDA update read.

The FDA continues to urge consumers not to buy, drink, or cook with water, or serve it to pets.

The FDA says the company did not cooperate, which hampered full investigations at Real Water’s sites in Nevada and Arizona. According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Charles LoBello, an attorney for Real Water, told District Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez on Monday that he was having difficulty reaching the plant manager or senior technician at the plant. company.

“I can’t imagine how they could say we’re not cooperating,” said Laura Ungaro, another Real Water lawyer at Craig Mueller & Associates, according to the outlet. “We have done everything but remain vigilant for them. Whatever they want and whatever they want, we have made it available to them. “

Fox News attempted to contact Las Vegas-based Real Water attorney Craig Mueller for comment on Thursday, but could not immediately respond.

The news comes after Real Water founder Brent Jones apologized to customers last week in a video posted on the company’s website. He said management “would like to express our deep sympathy and concern” regarding the adverse effects of the product and said the findings of a Food and Drug Administration investigation warranted a “personal” response.

The FDA and Nevada health officials have launched an investigation into Real Water after at least five children were hospitalized with liver failure after drinking the product. Some of their immediate relatives also exhibited symptoms, authorities said.

The FDA has listed symptoms to watch out for as fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, clay or gray stools, joint pain, yellow eyes and jaundice. Anyone who has drunk the product and suffers from it is advised to contact a physician.
