Reba McEntire reacts to Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from ex-stepson Brandon Blackstock: “I love them both”

Reba McEntire does not take sides in Kelly Clarkson’s divorce from talent manager Brandon Blackstock. McEntire was married to Blackstock’s father Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015, briefly making her Clarkson’s stepmother.

Clarkson filed for divorce from McEntire’s former stepson, with whom she shares two children, in June 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. The former couple married in 2013, two years before McEntire split.

Talk to Additional, the country star offered a diplomatic response when asked if she was giving Clarkson advice amid her marital breakdown.

“You know, I love them both,” McEntire said. “Brandon is my stepson, Kelly is my good friend… I shoot for both of them. I hope they are happy and healthy and they will be okay. This echoes similar comments made in a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, in which she said, “I can’t play favorites” during the split.
